St David's Day winners - Ian McLean and Paul Janney.

Which valiant pair would rise from their 'Den' to slay the 'Welsh Dragon'...

It was March the first, in the year of our Lord 2022, and verily, on the field of battle (aka HDA Golf !!!), 28 noble 'Greensome' pairings donned their armour (ok... golf clubs) to fight for the coveted St David's Day Trophy.

And, what a swashbuckling performance we had from our brave maidens and knights...

In the Mixed and Ladies Category we had 17 pairs... hopefully they were still 'pairs' by the end of the day.

In third place were Roy Hymers and Gina Wageman with a nett 70.6, just edged out by runners-up Ian Shrimpton and Dee Amend with a nett 69.4.

But with their flashing blades, the spoils were taken by Lee Roe and Imelda Brady with a fine nett 69.2.

11 all male pairings also fought gallantly for the trophy...

Andrew Haigh and Steve Forbes charged their way to a splendid nett 69 - only to be thwarted by a much more formidable foe... as they finished in second place.

Ironically, there is very little reliable information about St David... but we all know the winners of our St David's Day Trophy 2022 very well!

With careful planning, cunning strategy and steely determination (that's what they said anyway!)... the 'rock reliable' pair of Paul Janney and Ian McLean, feasted themselves on a plethora of birdies to crush all foes before them - and 'seize the day' with a superb nett 65.

Congratulations to the 'wily old foxes' on a truly epic performance.

In celebration, the field retired to the Club House balcony to enjoy some well earned gruel and mead!

Thank you to our two fine maidens, Louise Haigh and Jan Forbes-McDowell, for ensuring that the players were well nourished on their round!
