Seventeen teams gathered at Hacienda del Alamo to compete in the St Patrick's Trophy Texas Scramble, a spirited golf event that brought together players from many countries. The Irish contingents stood out, delivering impressive performances that set the pace for the international field but what was the end result?
The tournament was not just about competition but also about building connections among golfers from different backgrounds. The Texas Scramble format also encourages players of both sexes of every level, to compete, making it inclusive to all members. Teams had to balance aggressive plays with careful shot selection, making every hole a test of both skill and teamwork. The 17 teams competing brought a great mix of experience and styles!
The weather conditions on the day were fair, with quite mild temperatures and light breezes putting pressure on those all important shots into the green, made all the more difficult wrapped up like a Michelin Man!
So Who Did Win, by a very close margin!
Two categories of teams performed on the day, 9 of whom competed for the beautiful STV trophy as overall winners. Additionally, 8 further teams competed, combining guests with members for the 2nd tier winners. A great mix of skills and handicaps all round.
The winning team with -10 was Steve & Lynn Hosking with Mark & Jane Godfrey. Well Done!
Presented by our wonderfully Irish sponsor, Gary O´Riordan of Shamrock Car Hire of HDA.

Shamrock Car Hire S.L. has been sponsoring a number of the golfers events, but Paddy´s Day has to be one of the best, with so many Irish competing for the trophy, even the Chairperson is Irish! I think there´s a takeover going on...... Thank you Gary your a sport and a gentleman.
In 2nd place -9 was Andrew Haigh, Peggy O´Dea, Paul Mayne & Steve Forbes. Well Done!

In 3rd place also scoring -9 was Julie & Steve Crook with Brian & Sue Saunders

And so to the winners of the non-category (mixed member & non-member) teams. Of course, it was the Irish contingents (mostly) in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place!

Our wonderful sponsors - Jane & Gary O´Riordan

It was great to see the Clubhouse back in full swing with nearly 100 people milling around the beautiful balcony & bar. The sponsor made it possible for us to offer a mixed fish tapas with a drink free for all golfers, made by the hand of the new Spanish Chef, very scrummy.
The raffle was a success with even more prizes on offer, a variety of cheese boxes & wines. Thanks to the generosity of all those who took part. All proceeds go to Founders 2026 golfers evening.
The rogue´s gallery is worth a viewing, highlighting the Clubhouse transformation with all the rosy cheeked players. Thank you to everyone who came to the après golf presentations, you made it all happen.
See you next time!
