Where There's a Willis, There's a Way!

On Tuesday 18th July, the HDA Members' 100 Club had yet another cheque from Home Space Group ready to go to an eager golfer. The heat on this occasion did not deter the 35 players who turned up well-equipped with cold drinks and cold towels to help them around the course.
Technically, we had 33 HDA member players. However, we have recently the pleasure of being joined by Francisco and Paloma - our 2 junior players from the Golf Academy. Both play (extremely well) in the junior category, which is a relief for some as they rarely come in under 40 points - Paloma had a 52 pt round a few weeks back, so perhaps, if we are nice to them, could give us a lesson or two ;-). Seriously, though they are a joy to watch playing golf!
It is fantastic to see young players getting into golf and getting such great scores, and our own youngest HDA member managed to keep up the standard as Austin Willis came in with a fantastic 46 pts to pick up the €100 cheque. Congratulations Austin!
However, our other 32 players didn't do too badly on scores at all. Below are the winners and runners-up. There was no ladies' category due to insufficient numbers so ladies were merged into one of the corresponding three categories. That didn't stop Sue Winder picking up a prize with an admirable 41 pts. Well done, Sue!
Winners were: In Category 1 (8 players), we had in 1st Place: Gareth Woolnough - 38 points. Category 2 has 13 Players, and 2 prizes went to 1st Place and overall winner, Austin Willis with 46 points and 2nd Place, Michel Klaris with a fantastic 40 points. Category 3 had 11 Players and 3 prizes going to: 1st Place: Sue Winder - 41 points and 2nd Place: Peter Bethell - 39 points.
The Junior Academy results were equally impressive with Paloma getting 42 pts and Francisco, 40! ¡Enhorabuena, chic@s!

The Twos of the day were: Austin Willis on hole 15, Michel Klaris on hole 5 and Florian Fleck on hole 12. Congratulations, again!
Spencer of the Home Space Group has been donating monthly cheques now each month of '23 to HDA Golf Members, meaning that so far a total of €700 have gone to our various members. Some have even been lucky enough to pick up 2 cheques as Allard scooped his second win in the 100s Club in June. The May winner was Mick Joseph. Well done guys!
The HDA Golf Committee and its members are very grateful to the Home Space Group for their generosity.
Our next 100s Club individual Stableford competition is to be held in September as Spencer is taking a well-earned holiday. We shall keep you informed as to the date!
