Tuesday 25th July was the date set for yet another fantastic event at HDA sponsored by the Great Golf Company (TGGC) and the HDA Golf Members Committee. A blistering sun awaited the 60 players (15 teams) aspiring to win the fantastic prizes donated by TGGC in conjunction with the HDA Golf Members' Committee. Thankfully, the humidity was slightly lower than of late, which made the playing conditions marginally more bearable.

The traditional Texas Scramble competition had players up early and scooting off to their allotted tee for the 08.27 shotgun start. Most of the players got there on time ... only one or last minute two trails of dust to be seen in an attempt to make the tee before Danny of UGolf set off the firecracker. Simon of HDA Homes, our champion photographer was in his usual place on Tee 1 to capture the teams and their drives on camera. The Halfway House was open just after 10 am for rolls and refreshments by the amazing Jan Forbes and Louise Haigh.

A well-deserved complimentary drink, courtesy of HDA Golf Committee, was offered to each player as they returned (mostly red-faced and somewhat worse for wear) to the Clubhouse en masse at around 13.30. The main presentations were made before a large raffle with some fantastic prizes, including a stay at Ona Hotel (Congrats to Brian & Sue Saunders on picking that one up!) wine, cava, sports massages, Golf umbrellas, belts, bags, mirror training aid, golf balls, ball scoop, sun hats, caps, visors & club covers (please see the list of local businesses who donated gifts at the end of the page).

And now to the winners and runners-up. Scores were typically high with a couple of teams losing out on lower handicaps. There were 10 teams in the mixed-category section - 3 prizes up for grabs - and a nailbiting finish as two teams came in with a fantastic -14. Thanks to a team handicap of 9, first place went to Eva Sanguino Bunse, Javier Fabrega, Imelda Brady & Lee Roe, picking up first prizes of beautiful Taylormade golf bags. In second place on a slightly higher team handicap of 12 were: Rab Murray, Chris Faulkner, Steve Hoskings & Torill Angelik, who received 4 beautiful Taylormade rucksacks. Third place with another great score of -13, were Julian Duckmanton, Liz Duckmanton, Tassos Sachini & Catherine Sachini. Well done to all!

Mixed Category Winners: Javier Gimenez, Imelda, Brady Lee Roe & Eva. Bunse

Men's Category Winners: Peter Whitehead, Albert Brown, Gareth Woolnough & Ged Errington

There were 6 teams in the Men’s Category and 2 prizes awaiting and, yet again we had moments of vigorous nailbiting as there were 2 teams with the same score of -13 and, hold on a minute ... also with the same team handicap of 4! After a few calculations, based on a back 9 countback, the winners of another 4 Taylormade golf bags were Peter Whitehead, Albert Brown, Gareth Woolnough & Ged Errington and truly pipped at the post ... or the back 9 were runners up Jose Pagan Torres, Paco Cavas Garcia, Pablo Munoz Manogil &

Gary Sherwood. Well done, guys!

Prizes were also awarded for Nearest the Pin and Nearest the Line and our winners were: Nearest the Pin Men - Albert Brown and Ladies - Louise Hay.

Nearest the line: Men: Austin Willis and Ladies: Ingrid Klaris

Congratulations to all the winners!
