Steve & Sue Share the Stakes!

The September 100's Club Competition took place under much more clement conditions than in recent times and it was great to see players returning to the course after a sweltering summer. Forty-three hopefuls in total turned out to grapple for the €100 cheque, generously donated by Home Space Group to the HDA Golf Committee each month.

On this occasion, two lucky winners, with 38 points each, were the worthy champions. However, no need for them to split the cheque as they are from the same household! Well done to Steve and Sue Winder! Steve wasn't around to receive the cheque so here's hoping Sue managed to some of the money home to him! Enjoy both of you! Winnings in the 100s club normally go to one winner; however, the prize is shared in the case that the ladies' group winner ties with a player from one of the men's categories.

Scores, while very good, seem to have settled from the spectacular scoring of the summer months, usually up in the 40s along with the temperatures. Gareth Woulnough was the closest behind Steve and Sue with 37 points, winning Cat 1. Danny Lewis picked up the prize for Cat 2 with 35 points. Paul Janney and Ronnie Halam took second and third place in Cat 3 with 36 points, Paul won on lower handicap. Karen Leavy, also with 36 points picked up second prize in the ladies' category!

Also well done to Richard Creed, who had a birdie on hole 12, thus picking up the winnings from the 2s club.

A huge thanks again to Spencer from the Home Space Group, who couldn't make it this time to hand over the cheque. Nonetheless, the job was done very well by Committee Chairman, Peter Whitehead!
