Saunders Sweats it Out!

On the 24th of October HDA Golf welcomed 54 players to participate in this month's €100s Club, in which the lucky winner picks up the €100 cheque generaously donated each month by the Home Space Group.

The first tee time was slightly later than usual at 10.24, as the course at HDA is getting right into high season and is practically booked out all day every day. The weather was the usual fantastic sunny conditions - temps in the 20s and a slight chill in the wind to remind us it is autumn after all.

Obviously perfect conditions for golf, given the fantastic scores that started coming in around 15:00. Brian Saunders was the golfer of the day with an outstanding 43 points (Well done, Brian!); however, there were a few players biting at his ankles on the home straight. Right behind Brian were Gary Sherwood - 40 points (Cat 1 Winner); Lynn Hoskins (Ladies' Cat Winner) with 39 points and Neil Frankland (Cat 1, 2nd prize) with 38 points - Tommy Higgins (aka Goldilocks) picked up 2nd prize in Cat 3 with 37 points. 1st in Cat 2, was Paul Janney with 36 points winning on lower handicap and leaving 2nd place for Adrian Kernahan (36 pts).

The Kernahans kept it in the family and Linda also picked up 2nd prize in the ladies' Cat with her own fabulous 36 points. Penny Burrows and Anna Frigieri had a great score of 35 points each; however, Anna graciously conceded the 3rd prize to the lower handicapper, Penny.

Birdies of the day were: Neil Frankland - Hole 8, Austin Willis - Hole 15 and Andrew Haigh, also on Hole 15!

The Committee had a bit of a to-do, when just around prize-giving time, we noticed that Brian Saunders was missing in action. No Brian, no party!!! Yet again a quick phone call was made and we had Brian jumping out of the hot tub at home to come and pick up his prize along with Sue and little Ren - and that probably why they are both looking so fresh in the photo after almost 5 hours of golf!
