Remembrance Day Golf Competition 2022

On Saturday morning 12 November we commemorated Remembrance Day with our annual golf competition.

As is the tradition here at HDA, the event was dedicated to raising funds for the Royal British Legion... and the event was given fantastic support with 15 teams taking to the course.

In excellent conditions the scoring was very good - with second, third and fourth teams all finishing on -9... only separated by lower handicap.

In second place was the team of Kevin Leavy, Karen Leavy, Liam Dolphin and Michel Klaris.

In third place... Heather Janney, Paul Janney, Peter Bethel and Andy Michell.

And, in fourth place Sue Hill, Geoff Hill, Linda Kernahan and Adrian Kernahan.

Remembrance Day Champions 2022 - Javier Fabrega and Eva Bunse and Jan Erik Mattsson (not present).

But the winners on -10 were Jan Erik Mattsson, Javier Fabrega and Eva Bunse.

Fantastic scoring... congratulations to our Remembrance Day Champions 2022.

As you will know, the Remembrance Day competition is about so much more than golf... with local businesses and Members kindly donating auction and raffle prizes to raise funds for the Royal British Legion.

So, on completing their rounds the players retired to the Clubhouse for the post competition presentations and fundraising raffle and auction.

Prior to the presentations Ian Burrows kindly read from 'The Fallen' which was followed by a minutes silence.

We owe a big 'thank you' to Mick 'the Grip' Reeves from The British Legion for organising the Poppy Appeal and the prizes for the golf competition - without his help this event would simply not happen - 'thank you' Mick.

At the end of the evening Mick was able to confirm that we had raised €1,555 for the Royal British Legion - funds which will be used for the benefit of the Armed Forces community here in Spain.

A truly amazing amount - and testimony to the generosity of the Members and community here at HDA.

A big 'thank you' to Sandra McLean for her help with organising the raffle and Louise Haigh and Jan Forbes-McDowell for the well stocked halfway-house... an early start and a late finish for you all - much appreciated!

Closest to the pin - Ladies, Anna Frigieri on the 5th and Catherine McLanders on the 15th... Men's, Paul Mayne on the 8th and Rob Edwards on the 12th.
