Another week... and another fantastic HDA Golf Members' Committee competition here at HDA.
On Sunday 12 June, The Great Golf Company, Balsicas (TGGC) sponsored the HDA Pro-Am with some fabulous prizes (more about that later)... and what a day we had.
Each team consisted of three amateurs and one Pro with a uniquely challenging Scramble format - five drives from each amateur and three from the Pro... and with every player needing to drive on one par 3, the pressure was certainly on!
In glorious conditions, the rocket was fired at 9am... and we were off.
From the start the Pros demonstrated a level of power, flexibility (!!!) and all round skill that most of us only dream of. Some commented that they played shots from areas of HDA that they didn't realised existed - or was that only our Pro Jose Gomez!!??
After four and a half hours of fantastic competition we all retired to the Club House for the results and prize presentation.
Each Pro had been asked to nominate their player of the day from their fourball... it is quite possible that some selections were made on a single shot - but that is only hearsay.
Yvonne Morrison from TGGC drew one of the nominated players 'from the hat' and 'lo and behold'... 'he did a good drive on the 17th' Martin Hay was selected as the winner of the €100 voucher for TGGC. Congratulations to Martin.

Onto the main event, and in a very closely contested competition, only two strokes covered the first four teams.
In third place with an excellent net 60 were the team from TGGC - Keith Morrison, Declan Morgan, Andy Walsh with their Pro Ryan Boal. Each of the amateurs received a box of a dozen TaylorMade Tour Response balls.

On shot ahead were the runners-up Lesley Matthews, Linda Kernahan, Adrian Kernahan and their Pro Alex Ward with a super net 59... they each received a TaylorMade putter.

But ultimately, the day belonged to the ladies... Louise Hay, Catherine McLanders and Gina Wagemans were expertly 'marshalled' by their Norwegian Pro, Sondre Kravik to a fantastic, competition winning, score of net 58.
Yvonne presented each of the winning ladies with a Taylor MadeSim Max2 driver - congratulations, what an excellent performance!
So, another great day of golf here at HDA...
One final thank you from The HDA Golf Members' Committee to the Great Golf Company, Balsicas for sponsoring the prizes and being instrumental in organising the day... we look forward to our next competition together!
