Tuesday the 9th May will be a day to remember for our Heather indeed she did hit the heights, with an astonishing 48 points, Heather Janney stormed through to pick up the Ladies' winner prize as well as the overall Winner €100 cheque, kindly donated by the Homespace Group. Well done, Heather!
The planets seemed to be aligned for golf on Tuesday 9th because not only did we have one of the highest scores of the year in a competition but we also had a hole-in-one. Andy Jones managed to sink his drive on the 12th. Congratulations Andy! We are sure you made a huge effort to get a drink to everyone on the balcony …. it must have been a staffing issue ..😉
Although Heather did not have any close competitors, overall scores were actually quite amazing that day as four category winners managed to get 40+ points. Congratulations go to Francisco Jose Cavas García with 43 pts, winning Men’s Category 1; John David Smith (43 pts) and Steve Hoskins (40 pts) coming 1st and 2nd in Men’s Category 2 and, Adrian Kernahan with 42 pts winning Men’s Category 3. The ladies were not left behind as Karen Leavy managed a fantastic 40 pts also and picked up 2nd prize. Wow! Showing how unfair golf can be, various category bridesmaids of the day were Tim Shilling and Ronnie Hallam with 39 pts and Catherine Mclanders with 37; however, not picking up prizes.... boo hoo! Great scores, guys!
Twos for the day were won by Lindsay Laing, Tim Shilling, John Smith, and, of course, Andy Jones (Hole in one).

We have an exciting few weeks ahead now as our Annual Ladies V Men Match Play Competition takes place on Thursday 1st of June. Men's team Captain, Andrew Haigh, and Ladies' team Captain, Gina Wagemans have a great field prepared of 20 players per side. A Halfway House is being sponsored by HDA Committee and an après golf, mini burger & chips, will be offered to players after the round. Here's hoping it's a good clean fight! We believe Gina has a range of prizes collected from various establishments in Fuente Álamo, so looking forward to prize-giving!
Two days later, on the 3rd and 4th of June, we have the Annual Club Championship, so you high scorers better try and keep your form! Again, we have a Halfway House on both days and an 'albóndigas and chips' meal just before the prize-giving on 4th!
I suspect there may be a few more of us on the practice range these coming weeks. See you there, and if not, on the course.
Enjoy your golf!
Warm wishes
Imelda Brady
