HDA Golf Stands Together with Ukraine

On Saturday 12 March 2022 the golfing community at HDA 'stood together with Ukraine' to show our support for the Ukrainian people.

The 14 tee-times were fully booked... with 56 players donating their entry fee, and more often than not, a great deal more to the fund.

After the competition the players and other residents and guests at HDA retired to the Club House bar for an auction and raffle of prizes kindly donated by the players.

The generosity of all the players both here and around the world was overwhelming... and from a combination of entry fees, auction and raffle proceeds and some extremely kind donations the event raised €2,296.

'Thank you' to everyone involved... and a special 'thank you' to Sandra McLean for her help in co-ordinating the raffle.

The funds are being donated to the DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee). DEC brings together 15 leading UK aid charities to raise funds quickly and efficiently at times of crisis overseas. They are experts in humanitarian aid and specialise in areas of disaster response. The DEC is helping provide water, shelter, healthcare and protection to the fleeing families of Ukraine.

As a side note, congratulations to Ronnie Hallam for his performance of the day with 42 points.

New Member Julie Crook also had a fine day in the Ladies category with a winning total of 40 points.
