A fantastic day was had by all at the St David´s day competition yesterday, 29th March.
A total of 60 players enjoyed the day. The sun was shining beautifully, with not a drop of rain in sight, finally! The wind did play its part, asking the golfers to use all their skills to keep the ball on track, down the middle of the fairway. Not everyone succeeded!
The clear winners of the day were Steve & Julie Crook with a superb -8!
The competition was on from the first hole, they were off and running. Each hole thereafter was like poetry in motion. With drives dancing along the fairway, second and third shots bang on target, even the odd wedge off the pan did not deter Julie one bit. Both were on great form. Well done.
The runners up in the Mixed & Ladies pairs category were Catherine & Angus Mclanders with -4. Another great score. Followed by Alan Tipper & Chris Faulkner, only her second game at HDA in 3 months! With a score of -2.
The winners of the Men´s category were Mark Godfrey & Paul Mayne with a very well played -4. Closely followed by John Dynan and Andrew Haigh with -3.
Good scores all round.
The après golf was sponsored by Lochy´s (formerly Leo´s) with a free drink and some nibbles for all players. A big thank you goes out to them for a great time. The service was excellent. Around 50 players turned up for the trophy presentation and stayed long into the early evening.
The Committee ran it´s first raffle, which will be held at boarded and trophy competition presentations. It was a great success, selling every raffle ticket. I must bring more next time! Up for raffle were 2 very nice presentation bottles, a Muga rioja red wine and a Juve & Camps gran reserva Cava. Raising a total of 105 euros. Monies raised will go towards much needed items. The first being a portable speaker with microphones for presentation use. You all make so much noise, you cant hear us.....
Well thank you everyone for taking the time to read what´s going on. Hopefully, it´s not too long before the next one. Keep on playing. See you at St George´s Day.
Kind Regards
